From August 1st 2020 the BBC has issued new rules regarding the provision of free TV license to those over 75.
In order to receive the free TV license, you need to be over 75 AND you or your partner must be in receipt of pension credit.
Those aged 75 or over are encouraged to check if they are eligible for pension credit. You can do so via the DWP website (gov.uk). You can find links for the Pension credit calculators below.
According to the Department for Work and Pensions:
New rules will be introduced limiting free TV licences to over-75s receiving Pension Credit on 1 August 2020. Pensioners are being urged to check if they’re eligible for Pension Credit.
The Pension Credit toolkit is an online tool for agencies and welfare rights organisations to use to help older people understand how they could get Pension Credit. More information is also available on GOV.UK as well as a free online calculator.
