Memory Lane Cafe Is Back in Business!
On Saturday 26th September, Memory Lane ran their first café in Sowerby Bridge since March – 22 members came along to enjoy the afternoon. The Halifax café reopens in October. Memory Lane Cafe provides a dementia-friendly environment for people affected by dementia, other memory problems and isolation.

The Knock-On Effect of Panic Buying – A Plea from The Voluntary Sector
In response to the announcement made by Boris Johnson on Tuesday 22nd, supermarkets across the country have seen an increase in panic buying. Voluntary and Community Sector organisations across Calderdale share their experiences of the impact panic buying in March had for them and their vulnerable service users.

Sector Resilience Follow Up Survey – Closing date: 9th October
West Yorkshire and Harrogate Health and Care Partnership are currently conducting a voluntary and community sector wide survey to understand what is happening in the sector. It will help shape their work and focus moving forwards across West Yorkshire and Harrogate.
Young Advisors Transitions Survey – Closing date: 19th October
Calderdale Young Advisors are interested in hearing about the experience of young people transitioning between education settings, from primary school to high school, and high school to college/sixth form.

What is resilience? What makes us resilient? How can we exercise and develop resilience? This Healthy Minds online workshop will explore our personal resilience and develop strategies to strengthen our ability to manage when faced with adversity, through discussion and exercises.
The Big Calderdale Sleepout 2020 – 10th October
Join Calderdale SmartMove on World Homeless Day to experience just one night of sleeping rough to support the homeless and vulnerable of Calderdale. This year, rather than gathering together to sleep at the Piece Hall, they want as many people as possible to get involved and sleep out at home.

VCSE Health and Wellbeing Fund – Starting Well – Deadline: 30th October
Funding will be given to existing schemes working with children from preconception to two and a half years old, who want to expand or develop their schemes by delivering new outcomes or to specific communities.

Safer Communities Fund Opens for Applications – Deadline: 6th October
The latest grant round of my Safer Communities Fund (SCF) has opened for applications this week. This time a pot of £140,000 is available for voluntary, community groups, charities and partner organisations to bid for grants of up to £6,000 to help keep their communities safe and feeling safe.
