Staying Well at St. Columba’s Refurbished Church Hall

The newly refurbished St Columba’s Church Hall hosted our Staying Well event on the 19 July, with safety and security being the main theme of the day. There were talks providing preventative measures regarding home safety, scams and keeping safe and secure, from PSCO Lyndsay Whitwam, The SAFER Team Calderdale Council and the District Fire Prevention Officer; Victim Support and Newground were also present to raise awareness and offering valued advice, which was well received by over 50 local residents who had attended the event. After a tasty lunch, the group were treated to Local historian David Glover who gave an informative and amusing illustrated talk ‘Buried Alive’. Following on from the ‘Look over your Shoulder’ event, Staying Well is continuing to move throughout the Warley district with the view to working alongside existing community groups/churches and planning another community ‘Brought to your Knees’ event in the late summer, with the theme of staying healthy and well. Staying Well is about helping you to stay healthy and improve wellbeing. Referrals are for anyone 18+ and can include a chat with a Staying Well worker, a home visit and information and support to attend activities in your area. If you know someone who could benefit from our service in the Warley Ward, please contact the Hayley Conlon Staying Well Worker on 01422 393956 or email hayley.conlon@calderdale.gov.uk
