MAC Community Kitchen has now been running for six months, welcoming around 40 people each week for a free, home-cooked meal. Supported by the Staying Well team, the kitchen has become more than just a place to eat. It offers a welcoming space where people can connect with others, access support, and feel part of their community.
Each week, Leeds GATE, Better Lives and Staying Well are available, with visiting services that include Aging Well, Social Prescribers, Citizens Advice, Unmasked Mental Health, and many more, who attend to offer advice and support. The project has also benefited from generous food donations from local charity Noah’s Ark. MAC Community Kitchen has grown into a thriving community hub where people can meet, share a meal, and build new connections.
“The atmosphere in here is amazing“
“Thank you, the food is fantastic, it gets better each week!“
“I am so impressed with the turnout and the different age ranges that were all engaging with each other. I think it is lovely!”
The building is accessible, and there are a parking spaces available on site or at roadside.
Everyone is welcome, there is no need to book. Just drop in!
If you are a professional or organisation interested in coming along to share your expertise with community members, please get in touch with Staying Well.
The MAC Kitchen is open – Every Thursday, 11.30 until 1.30pm, at Mixenden Activity Centre (MAC).
As the kitchen continues to grow and develop, we will be looking for other community teams to do a MAC Kitchen Takeover!
